Press release: Des 4, 2020 – Bergen, Norway:
Mediability have been selected by Danish TV SYD to build its new story-centric and cloud based newsroom.
DiNA by 7Mountains will be the centrepiece in the TV SYD newsroom workflow, integrated with Mimir by Mjoll as the cloud based and AI-powered production asset management tool. Mimir integrates with Adobe Premiere Pro for the editing workflow at TV SYD. System integration, training and project management will be delivered by Mediability.
Gert Børgesen, Technical Manager and Project Lead at TV SYD said;
“TV SYD are facing the same challenge as many other media houses these days for managing multiple platforms. Working with the same story on multiple media platforms often results in important information, research, and media assets getting spread on to different systems. We lose history and the overview for what is published where.
With DiNA at the center of our newsroom and with the integrated workflow for media management in the cloud with Mimir, we move to a cloud newsroom that gives us a central publishing hub and that frees us from some on-premise infrastructure. Our journalists can work from anywhere with access to all the tools that they need to create news for multiple platforms”
The project for TV SYD is co-funded by Innovation Norway for research and development of solutions that replaces legacy systems for linear TV production.
“TV SYD is one of the first broadcasters worldwide to make the move to a cloud based newsroom that allows journalists to work from anywhere and that will unify their workflows for all distribution platforms, such as SoMe, web and linear. This move will keep TV SYD in the front seat when it comes to delivering more to their followers and viewership” says Robert Strand, VP of Sales in 7Mountains
TV SYD news workflow
The TV SYD journalists will use DiNA as the main tool for their news planning, story creation and multiplatform publishing. DiNA will be the one unified tool for all the TV SYD journalists to create stories for linear television, social media and web.
TV SYD will gather all their story ideas, sources and content in DiNA. Ritzau´s news feed, email sources and newspaper RSS feeds are also harvested from the same tool. With DiNA, journalists can share and collaborate on story plans, ideas and publish story instances to their chosen platform(s). All journalists across departments and teams can easily share stories and elevate the transparency in the organization.
DiNA´s rundown module will be used with studio automation tool Viz Mosart from Vizrt and graphics solution Xpression from Ross Video.
Tightly integrated with Mimir by Mjoll, users can search, and add video assets to stories within DiNA. Mimir offers advanced search capabilities for the journalist to find the content that they need for their stories leveraging a range of AI technologies that allows the TV SYD team to automate time-consuming tasks such as the metadata logging, speech-to-text transcriptions, multi language translations, facial recognition, object tracking, and more. Auto generated transcripts can be edited and Mimir also has a built-in closed captioning tool.
Mimir has a native panel for Adobe Premiere Pro for managing media assets. With the Adobe integration users can work with both proxy and high resolution versions of their media files. With advanced search features users can also find video clips or segments of video clips based on transcripts and add these directly into their Adobe projects.
